In the morning, your English-speaking guide and driver pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi as you depart the city for Lang Son. The journey follows Highway 1, passing through peaceful countryside and expansive rice fields. Along the way, you make a short stop for coffee and a restroom break before continuing toward the northern border region.
Around midday, you arrive in Lang Son and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, the journey continues to Cao Bang Province and onward to Ban Gioc, with the drive offering beautiful mountain scenery, winding roads, and impressive karst landscapes.
In the late afternoon, you arrive in the Ban Gioc area and check in at a local guesthouse or lodge. You then have free time to stroll around the village, relax after the long drive, and take photos of the surrounding rice fields and limestone mountains.

Meal: Lunch
After breakfast at the lodge, you take a short walk or drive to visit Ban Gioc Waterfall, one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Vietnam, located right on the border with China. You have time to stroll along the pathways, feel the cool mist from the falls, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and listen to the powerful roar of water cascading down multiple tiers. Several viewpoints allow you to admire the wide curtain of water and capture stunning photos against the backdrop of lush green karst mountains.
You also have the opportunity to enjoy a rafting experience on a shared bamboo raft, gently gliding along the calm sections of the river near the waterfall. This offers a unique perspective of the scenery and a memorable experience on the water.
Afterward, you continue to Nguom Ngao Cave, a remarkable limestone cave renowned for its impressive stalactites and stalagmites formed over thousands of years. Walking along the illuminated pathways, you can admire the fascinating rock formations and the magical underground atmosphere before returning to the surface.
Late in the morning, you depart Ban Gioc and drive back toward Cao Bang City, stopping for lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, the journey continues to Ba Be National Park, passing through remote villages, forested valleys, and scenic mountain passes that offer glimpses of rural life in northern Vietnam.
In the late afternoon, you arrive in Ba Be, check in at your hotel, and enjoy an overnight stay in Ba Be.

In the morning, you will embark on a boat trip across Ba Be Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake in Vietnam and a centerpiece of Ba Be National Park. Surrounded by towering limestone mountains, dense jungles, and peaceful villages of the Tay ethnic people, the lake offers a truly serene atmosphere. During the boat ride, you will glide along emerald-green waters, passing through dramatic cliffs and lush forests that reflect beautifully on the surface. Along the way, you may visit Ao Tien, Puong Cave, a limestone tunnel carved by the Nang River, where thousands of bats make their home. You might also stop at Dau Dang Waterfall, where the river tumbles through rocky rapids, and take time to admire the raw, untouched beauty of the landscape. This boat journey not only showcases the lake’s pristine nature but also provides a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of local communities living along its banks.
Then in the afternoon, you will have some free time to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Ba Be. You can take a short walk around the village, admire the natural scenery, or simply sit by the lake and enjoy the calm atmosphere.
Night in Ba Be

After breakfast, you check out and bid farewell to your hosts. You then depart Ba Be and begin the scenic drive back to Hanoi, passing once again through peaceful countryside, small towns, and mountain landscapes. En route, you stop at a local restaurant for lunch at your own expense. In the afternoon, the journey continues toward Hanoi, arriving in the city in the late afternoon. You will be dropped off at your hotel or at the agreed meeting point. Until next time!
