5 Days / 4 Nights � Cycle Tour of the Mekong Delta of Vietnam

TOUR SUMMARY

The bicycle is a perfect way to discover the distinct scenery of the Mekong Delta with the fertile banks farmed by generations of peasants. You ride amongst large ricefields from Caolanh to ChauDoc town . You will have a change to swim in the peaceful Muinai beach in Hatien and discover the animated floating market in Cantho along the Mekong river.

 

RIDING PROFILE

This is a We ride just over 80 kilometres on a mixture of trails that range form dirt tracks to asphalt.  The reward for riding in remote areas is empty roads and incomparable views. For those that enjoy riding in the mountains, this tour is the ultimate cycling adventure and highly recommended.  The riders are supported by sturdy passenger vans.

 

ITINERARY

Day 1 Hochiminh city - VinhLong 40 km [L,D]
Am : Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to VinhLong, is the capital of the province and is a medium-sized town along the banks of the Mekong River about midway between My Tho and Can Tho., Crossing the ferry. Ride from  Tra On to An Binh islands along the tree lined roads, there are many of these beautiful small islands in the river, totally given over to agriculture, especially the growing of tropical fruits, which are shipped to Saigon. Some of the most popular islands to visit include An Binh Island with their 'monkey bridges', or makeshift footbridges built of uneven logs above the canals. Overnight at home stay in AnBinh island - VinhLong.

Day 2 VinhLong - Tra Vinh � Hochiminh city 50 km [B,L,D]
Am : After the breakfast. Taking a boat to visit Caibe floating market. a bustling market where wholesalers on big boats moor, each specializing in one or two types of fruit or vegetables. Customers cruise the market in smaller boats, and can easily find what they are looking for as the larger boats hang samples of their goods from tall wooden poles. There are also good views of the huge Catholic cathedral on the riverside. Ride  back to Tieu Can to visit old Khmer temple and lotus pond. Drive back to Hochiminh city.

Road Surface This tour follows a mixture of well-surfaced roads and the option to go off road onto single track
Support One or two air-conditioned minibuses specially rigged to take bikes and bikers.

Staff Cycling leader for group over 6 persons, English speaking Vietnamese cycling guide, driver/mechanic and assistants. For groups of ten or more an extra local bike guide also joins.
Food All meals are included except for the breakfast on Day 1 and dinner on Day 5.
