About 100 kilometers south of Hanoi lies Hoa Lu, Vietnam’s former capital during the Dinh Dynasty between 968 and 980 AD. The area still preserves impressive temples and royal tombs that reflect its historic importance. Alongside its cultural heritage, Hoa Lu is famed for its striking landscape, where dramatic limestone mountains rise above emerald rice paddies, earning the area the nickname “Halong Bay on land.”
