You will be picked up from your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and travel south to Go Cong, approximately 50 km away. Nestled between two estuaries of the Mekong River, Go Cong is well known for its expansive rice fields and peaceful rural scenery. Upon arrival, explore this quaint town rich in history and culture, including a visit to the Pham Dang Family Ancestral House, built in honor of Archduke Pham Dang Hung, the maternal grandfather of Emperor Tu Duc.
After lunch, continue your journey to visit the Old Prefect Hai’s House, one of the most iconic and best-preserved residences of former affluent landowners in the Mekong Delta.
Later in the afternoon, proceed to Giong Trom District in Ben Tre Province, an area famous for its endless coconut groves and winding canal system that gives the region its distinctive charm.
Take a leisurely bicycle ride along quiet village lanes shaded by coconut palms. This is an excellent chance to experience daily life in the Mekong Delta, observing local handicrafts, farming activities, and traditional homes nestled among lush vegetation.
Overnight stay at a local homestay.
After breakfast, enjoy some free time at your own pace before being transferred to Ben Tre Pier. Board a boat for a cruise along the Ben Tre River, one of the Mekong River’s tributaries, passing mangrove-lined banks. Along the way, observe the vibrant daily life of the riverside town, with bustling local markets on land and constant activity on the water, including fishing boats and coconut transport vessels.
Continue your journey with visits to small, family-run workshops in Nhon Thanh Village to gain insight into traditional rural industries. Stop at a local brick kiln to see how bricks are still handcrafted using age-old techniques. Cruise along the Cai Son Canal, winding through lush coconut groves, and visit a coconut-processing workshop to learn about each stage of production, from removing the husk to hand-peeling the coconut meat.
Travel further along narrow waterways to a coconut candy workshop, where you can watch the candy being made by hand, sample freshly made sweets, enjoy seasonal fruits, and listen to local traditional music. Disembark for a short walk to a nearby farmer’s home to observe the weaving of sleeping mats.
Continue the experience by tuk-tuk through the coconut countryside, immersing yourself in the peaceful rural landscape. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant, then relax on a peaceful rowing boat ride along shaded canals lined with water coconut palms.
Return by boat to Chet Say Pier, then drive back to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.
