You will be picked up from your hotel in Saigon and travel south to Go Cong, approximately 50 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City. Situated between two estuaries of the Mekong River, Go Cong is known for its expansive rice fields stretching across the countryside. Explore this peaceful town rich in history and culture, including a visit to the Pham Dang Family Ancestral House, built in honor of Archduke Pham Dang Hung, the maternal grandfather of Emperor Tu Duc.
After lunch, continue to the Old Prefect Hai’s House, one of the most iconic and well-preserved residences of the affluent landowning class in the Mekong Delta, showcasing distinctive Southern Vietnamese architecture.
Later in the day, drive onward to Giong Trom, located in the heart of Ben Tre Province. This area is famous for its vast coconut groves and winding canal system, forming a uniquely lush and tropical setting.
Enjoy a leisurely cycling excursion along quiet village lanes shaded by coconut palms. The scenic route offers wonderful insight into daily life in the Mekong Delta, passing local workshops, farmland, and traditional homes nestled among vibrant greenery.
Overnight stay at a local homestay.
After breakfast, enjoy some free time before transferring to Ben Tre Pier. Board a boat to cruise along the Ben Tre River, one of the tributaries of the Mekong River. As you glide past mangrove-lined banks, observe the vibrant rhythm of daily life—bustling riverside markets, fishing boats, and coconut-laden cargo vessels moving along the waterways.
Continue exploring the countryside of Nhon Thanh Village, visiting small family-run workshops where traditional handicrafts are still practiced. Stop at a local brick kiln to learn how bricks are made by hand using age-old techniques. Then turn into the Cai Son Canal, winding gently through dense coconut groves.
Visit a coconut workshop to see each stage of coconut processing, from removing the husk to hand-peeling the flesh. Cruise further into narrow canals and stop at a coconut candy workshop, where you can watch artisans making candy manually, sample the sweets, enjoy fresh tropical fruits, and listen to local folk music. Continue by boat, disembark, and take a short walk to a farmer’s home to see how traditional sleeping mats are woven.
Switch to a tuk-tuk ride through peaceful coconut gardens, immersing yourself in the lush rural scenery. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant before relaxing on a rowing boat journey through tranquil canals shaded by water coconut palms.
Return by boat to Chet Say Pier, then drive back to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.
